The Mediation Process.

Congratulations!  You are taking control of your future and are one step closer to resolution.  Mediation saves time, money, and stress, not to mention reduces uncertainty.

Mediation is confidential and entirely voluntary.

Your Mediator is a trained impartial, neutral facilitator who will assist you in reaching a mutually acceptable resolution with the other side.  Your Mediator, although an attorney, will not offer legal advice to any party, but may express her opinion concerning the strengths or weaknesses of a party’s position.  Your Mediator may, at times, meet privately with any of the parties or their attorneys during the course of the mediation; this process is known as a “caucus” or “breakout room”.  Your Mediator will not disclose any information received in caucus without the permission of the party making the disclosure.

The ground rules of mediation include respect, good faith, and honesty.  What you put into the process determines the outcome.

More information will be provided in a comprehensive Agreement to Mediate, and if you have any questions or concerns, please let Laura know!
